Despite years of debate, Americans can’t decide if genetically altered foods help or hurt, according to a new survey reported on by the Fresno Bee. “It looks like
the jury is still out,” says Michael Rodemeyer, executive director of the Pew
Initiative on Food and Biotechnology, in releasing the poll conducted for his
nonprofit, nonpartisan organization. Experts at a symposium where the poll was
released last week were equally split, even in their own minds, on the benefits
and risks of tinkering with nature.
