What's going on here?[edit]
This seems like a really weird edit, and with no summary. Is it intentional? If I saw this from a less experienced user, I would have assumed vandalism & reverted it. - Jmabel ! talk 23:50, 17 July 2023 (UTC)

Is it okay to start using {{License from structured data}} on a large number of pages? I incorporated it into {{DPLA metadata}}—which is able to display all DPLA fields except for two now—and I'd like to start doing replacements soon like this one. I have my template working for all cases in the DPLA files, but I didn't want to start applying it widely without checking with you first. Dominic (talk) 01:35, 18 July 2023 (UTC)

On July 18, the Wikimedia Foundation launched a survey about the technical decision making process for people who do technical work that relies on software that is maintained by the Foundation or affiliates. If this applies to you, please take part in the survey. The survey will be open for three weeks, until August 7. You can find more information in the announcement e-mail on wikitech-l.

The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 25 July. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 26 July. It will be on all wikis from 27 July (calendar).

Recent changes
- The Synchronizer tool is now available to keep Lua modules synced across Wikimedia wikis, along with updated documentation to develop global Lua modules and templates.
- The tag filter on Special:NewPages and revision history pages can now be inverted. For example, you can hide edits that were made using an automated tool. [1][2]
- The Wikipedia ChatGPT plugin experiment can now be used by ChatGPT users who can use plugins. You can participate in a video call if you want to talk about this experiment or similar work. [3]
Problems
- It was not possible to generate a PDF for pages with non-Latin characters in the title, for the last two weeks. This has now been fixed. [4]
Changes later this week
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 1 August. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 2 August. It will be on all wikis from 3 August (calendar).
- Starting on Tuesday, a new set of Wikipedias will get "Add a link" (Georgian Wikipedia, Kara-Kalpak Wikipedia, Kabyle Wikipedia, Kabardian Wikipedia, Kabiyè Wikipedia, Kikuyu Wikipedia, Kazakh Wikipedia, Khmer Wikipedia, Kannada Wikipedia, Kashmiri Wikipedia, Colognian Wikipedia, Kurdish Wikipedia, Cornish Wikipedia). This is part of the progressive deployment of this tool to more Wikipedias. The communities can configure how this feature works locally. [5]

Why does the VRTS link render to "https://ticket.wikimedia.org/otrs/index.pl?Action=AgentTicketZoom&TicketID=2023081010001458" while "TicketID" doesn't appear at all in the module, and the correct parameter was TicketNumber? --Krd 13:55, 10 August 2023 (UTC)
