No preview can be seen[edit]

Dear colleagues, I am somewhat experienced user but recently I uploaded renewed versions of two different files, File:Краткий очерк истории чешского народа 1872.pdf and File:Khazarfall1.svg, and although uploading was successful, there is no preview seen for any of them. What I did incorrectly? Sorry for a stupud question. Andrei Romanenko (talk) 20:16, 1 May 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

For the PDF file, the 0pixel size indicates that it is broken, or not openable by the outdated software the server is using. For the SVG, software is always going to have an hard time opening embedded bitmaps in SVG, like this file is. It would be better if the SVG was an PNG like the original. I cannot understand it, sorry. This PDF is openable: [1]; should I reupload it as saved for earlier version of Adobe Acrobat? As for SVG, I recreated it from File:Khazarfall1.png because of the errors on the map and pretty bad quality of the previous version. Andrei Romanenko (talk) 10:08, 2 May 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
The issue is then likely to be the latter part of my comment. The server host of Wikimedia Commons uses an outdated Ghostscript program + Imagemagick to generate an thumbnail for the PDF, and since both of those are out of date, it is failing. That issue is being fixed and will be fixed sometime this year.
The issue is then likely to be the latter part of my comment, that the server has outdated Ghostscript + Imagemagick software. It would be nice if someone would be willing to test that theory, preferrably on Ghostscript 9.27 and 9.57. Ghostscript settings on server: export to jpeg, 90% quality, 150dpi. Ghostscript and Imagemagick are being updated on the servers.--Snævar (talk) 22:45, 2 May 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
The SVG file used the wrong attribute for the image element. It used the SVG 2.0 href attribute rather than the SVG 1.0/1.1 xlink:href attribute. Commons SVG images should be SVG 1.0 or 1.1. Glrx (talk) 17:49, 2 May 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Color Profile Error[edit]

Today, my Inkscape crashed and I had to uninstall it and then reinstall it with the latest version, 1.2.2. I'm trying to upload my first .svg image from this new version, but the upload wizard is giving me the error mesage "<color-profile "http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink:href=../../../../../../windows/system32/spool/drivers/color/dell". How do I fix this? Is this from a setting in Inscape? Glasshouse (talk) 00:19, 24 July 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
